Insurance & Coverage for Speech, Occupational, & Physical Therapy
Let's Find Your Path to Care
Between insurance, out-of-network reimbursement, HSA and FSA payments, and flexible private-pay options, we’ll walk through the options and tell you what to expect before your first session.

Health Insurance We Accept
We are able to provide speech, occupational, and physical therapy through these carriers. Coverage depends on your specific plan, and we’ll check yours before your first session.
RL Therapy Group is in-network with:
Outside California?
Some plans allow us to serve families in other states. If you’re not sure whether we work with your plan, reach out and we’ll check.
No Surprises Before You Start
You’ll know what therapy costs before you commit to anything.
01
Free consultation
You talk with a lead therapist about what’s going on, ask questions, and find out whether we’re the right fit. No cost, no obligation.
02
We check your benefits
Our team contacts your insurance carrier and finds out exactly what your plan covers.
03
We call you with real numbers
Within 48 hours of your consultation, our scheduling team reaches out with what your coverage looks like and what you can expect.
04
We get you scheduled
Once you know where you stand, we work around your family’s availability and prioritize getting you started as quickly as possible.
You’ll never be asked to commit to a session before you know what it costs.
Out-of-Network & Self-Pay
Not seeing your plan above doesn’t mean therapy is off the table.
Self-Pay Price Per Session
If you’re paying out of pocket, we offer a discounted rate of $85 per 30-minute session. Evaluation rates vary depending on what’s needed, and we’ll give you that number before getting started.
Out-of-Network Billing, Handled for You
If you have out-of-network benefits, we use a service called Thrizer to submit your claims for you. Instead of paying in full, filing paperwork, and waiting on a reimbursement check, the claim goes in automatically, and you get your benefits without chasing them.
Payment Options
HSA and FSA
We accept HSA and FSA payments.
Flexible Payment Plans
We work with families to figure out a payment schedule that's manageable for your finances, whether you're private pay or working through a high deductible.
Regional Centers
We’re an approved provider with the San Diego, Redwood Coast, and Central Valley Regional Centers.
If you’re facing a high copay or your coverage isn’t working the way you hoped, it’s worth asking whether you qualify. Regional Center funding can cover speech, occupational, and physical therapy. Eligibility and age ranges vary by center.
Not sure whether this applies to you? Reach out, and we’ll help you figure out where to start.

More Options Through the Self-Determination Program (SDP)
If your child receives services through a California Regional Center, you may have heard about the Self-Determination Program (SDP). SDP gives you greater control over how your approved services are delivered, including increased flexibility in choosing service providers.
RL Therapy Group is happy to support families participating in California’s Self-Determination Program through speech, occupational, and physical therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover therapy? Will I have a copay?
This depends on your specific plan, so the honest answer is that we can’t know until we check. The good news is that you don’t have to sort it out yourself. After your free consultation, our team verifies your benefits directly with your insurance and calls you within 24 to 48 hours with what your plan covers and what, if anything, you can expect to pay. You’ll have real numbers before you ever commit to a session.
Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?
Some plans require a referral before they’ll cover therapy, and some don’t. This is one of the things we check for you when we verify your benefits, so you won’t have to guess or track it down on your own. If a referral is needed, we’ll let you know exactly what to ask your pediatrician for.
What insurance do you accept?
We’re in-network with Tricare West, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Cigna in California. If your plan isn’t one of these, that doesn’t mean we can’t work together. Many families use out-of-network benefits, and we can help you access those. We also accept HSA and FSA payments. If you’re not sure where your plan fits, reach out and we’ll run a benefits check for you.
What is a deductible?
Your deductible is the amount you pay for healthcare before your insurance starts covering its share. Once you’ve met it, you may be responsible for a smaller portion of each session through a copay or coinsurance rather than the full cost.
What is the difference between copays and coinsurance?
A copay is a set dollar amount you pay per session, like $25. Coinsurance is a percentage of what your insurance considers the allowed amount for a service. For example, if your coinsurance is 20% and your plan’s allowed amount for a session is $98, your share would be $19.60. Which one applies to you depends on your plan, and we’ll walk you through what to expect when we check your benefits.
What does out-of-pocket maximum mean?
Your out-of-pocket maximum is the most you’ll pay for covered services in a plan year. It includes what you put toward your deductible, copays, and coinsurance. Once you reach it, your insurance covers 100% of your covered services for the rest of the year, and you won’t owe anything more out of pocket for them.
Can I choose RL Therapy Group through SDP?
California’s Self-Determination Program (SDP) is a voluntary Regional Center program that gives individuals and families more flexibility, choice, and control over their services, including the ability to choose their service provider. If RL Therapy Group’s services are an appropriate fit for your child’s approved services and funding arrangement, we can help you understand the steps involved in accessing our services.
